I should’ve done this a couple weeks ago, but better late than never! This is the loot from mid-late February to early March. I was waiting to get nendo-Mio-tan in the local anime store but I’m not sure if I’m gonna be able to get her before this month ends so… Ok so February was the month I threw caution to the wind, thought “fuck it!” and started buying and placing pre-orders like crazy, and there’s only one culprit responsible of breaking my will:
Mugi is just SO. DAMN. CUTE. I was just thinking of getting just one set of K-On! since well it was a little too much to have three K-On! bands, but Mugi lured me with her sinful cuteness (all her three forms) and made me brake my holy vows; you evil temptress you!
I’m not into collecting robots (even though I like watching the genre) but Gurren Lagann Giga Drill Breaker was just too FRIGGING AWESOME to pass! it was expensive but not unlike ebay, plus I trust Anime Jungle to have legitimate figures. Along with it I got nendo-Yui-chan. In all honesty I think she’s not as well-crafted as other nendoroids (thus why I didn’t get her the first time) but as I said, Mugi-tama made me change my mind because it just wouldn’t do if she was alone, would it now? *bows to her mistress*
MIKURU-TAAAAAAAAANNNNNNN!! I adopted bunny Mikuru-tan from her former daddy, LightningSabre! He is the MOST SUPER SPECIAL AWESOME person in the world! because he’s nice and very very VERY patient (I claimed her around half a year ago O_oU) and didn’t get mad at me for postponing the adoption ^^U I just have one complain towards the company who made her: where’s the beauty spot?!?!?
He also gave me this as a present!:
I can’t stop popping them! it’s basically a funny keychain that emulates bubble wrap, so whenever you press it’s supposed to be the same as popping bubble from bubble wrap. The twist to this one is that it randomly says phrases in Japanese; mine is the “osana najimi” neighbour type (there’s meido, tsundere and imouto too but I don’t have those). It’s pretty addictive since you keep on punching just to hear that sweet voice~ (where do you get this things?? I tried to find them but to no avail!)
Nia was on sale in HLJ so that’s why I got her. I didn’t really like this figure; mostly because I was hoping it included her cape. Without it the dress looks like it’s missing something. Another reason I got her on sale and not before is because the sale price seems most reasonable with this kind of figure (craft, size, paintjob…) than the regular one. They’re making them way too overpriced! I still remember when I got my first Max Factory Haruhi, she was around $40 and is just as good as Nia in terms of quality (heck even the stand is awesomer). This is not being paranoid or cheap either; there’s rarely a good PVC figure that isn’t around $80-100 nowadays. The rest is some Gurren Lagann charms and keychains. I accidentally got two of the same so one is in store. Maybe I could use it for a zipper…
So with the new additions to the figure population and a not so far away perspective of moving to another place, I had to make some decisions regarding my overall anime collection.
First of all I had way too many boxes, although not to insane levels, so I decided to throw away the boxes. I do love them (they look as gorgeous as the figures they house) but at the end of things the meat of them are the figures themselves, so to the trash bin they go. The only ones who got to keep the boxes are Gwendolyn, Gurren Lagann, Mikuru and Saber. I’m still debating over Dante’s box (and a couple of the formers, actually) it’s too big but I have no intentions of giving him away.
The only dilemma I got is that one never knows, and I might feel compelled to sell one in the future (not likely but…). Most buyers though wouldn’t want to get a figure with no box (I think I talked about this in DC once, a long time ago) but why would I buy figures if I’m gonna end up selling them in the end? since I’m lazy I left most figures stored:
Manga collections have been sold too and given away. The only issue I got is that a good half are Argentinian versions and I can’t sell those; nowadays manga in Argentina costs a lot more. What I’m also trying to get rid of are yaoi/BL doujins. At least a third of what I got could use some new homes. Problem is, doujinshi caters to very specific shippers, and that can go all the way from who’s top or bottom to the art style, even the circle which made the doujins. Doujinshi collectors, we’re the most picky bastards on Earth ^^U
Letting the loots/collection issue aside… do you like hamburger?
This is something I wiped on Saturday after watching some Hidamari Hoshimittsu -and reading Japanese food recipes-: Japanese Hamburger! It came surprisingly well given it was my first try! I’m not horrible at cooking but usually on the first few tries there’s always something wrong, either I put too much salt, missing/broken utensils, experiment too much… Anyways along with hamburger I made some menchi katsu for my big bro, which is basically hamburger coated in bread crumbs and deep fried. I found it a bit too heavy (even more than tonkatsu which I usually love) so just made regular hamburgers with the rest of the meat. I wouldn’t eat them regularly though, they’re still a bit on the heavy side of things, but are delicious even cold so they are perfect for bentos.
This was all gonna be posted in three different posts, but I decided to do everything in one go or else I’m gonna procrastinate again -_-U I still got other things I wanna post, so I’ll try to make posting something I do regularly.
